We had a spectacular day to walk the battlefield and view the monuments at Kings Mountain National Historical Park. A major Revolutionary War battle here consisted entirely of Americans fighting Americans. The Patriot militias (who supported independence from Britain) defeated the Loyalist troops (Americans who chose to stay loyal to the King).
