Red Mountain State Park has a pleasant walk along a mountain ridge. If you get off the main trail, there are several closed mine entrances from back when Birmingham was one of the top iron producing cities in the world.

Birmingham is extremely proud of their 56-foot tall statue of Vulcan that overlooks the city from atop a tower, symbolizing the importance of iron and steel in their history. Oddly, Vulcan isn't wearing pants! Wouldn't it be embarrassing to have your bare backside on display for all to see?

The Berman Museum houses one couple's incredible collection of artifacts, including, among other things, a diamond encrusted scimitar that was a gift to Catherine the Great, hairbrushes and a mirror belonging to Napoleon, and Hitler's silver tea set.
