Rietbrock, Wisconsin
At 45 degrees north latitude and 90 degrees west longitude, this spot is the center of the northern half of the western hemisphere. Apparently this is a noteworthy thing - it is located inside a cornfield in a remote area, and yet we were not alone visiting this place.

Stopped in at Gobbler's Knob to say hello to Phil, but apparently he dislikes hot weather even more than he dislikes seeing his shadow.

Brookville, Pennsylvania
In 1912 and 1913, Douglas Stahlman carved verses from scripture, biblical references, and personal messages on at least 165 rocks. They are worn and hard to read today, but they are preserved at Scripture Rocks Heritage Park.

After a summer of dog/house sitting, we are back on the road. First stop was the US Military Academy at West Point, where you can see the precisely placed books in the Cadet Chapel.
